A servant King

Who wants a king? I would take one if he actually pays attention to me.

I love my church: I get Jesus

What would you give up to get some glory, wonder, and majesty? The most foolish thing in the world is that someone would give up the highest place ever. This is what Jesus has done. In the aftermath, what's left? Just Jesus. And you can have him.

Jesus Christ our High Priest makes us priests

If you think you have access to God, he hears your prayers, you experience intimacy with him, and you can urge others, somewhat on his behalf, to do good -- if you think you can do all that -- are you confident? Let's get some confidence.

I love my church: I get faith

Faith is more than just a wish or a hope, it is the remedy for our soul sickness. It is the way we get rid of the horror, the poison, and the disgust which ravages our hearts at their deepest moments. Need to get rid of something in your soul. Then get faith.

I love my church: I get corrected

If any place should permit and encourge healthy correction, it should be the church. We should be able to readily take correction. But we often don't, and the reasons for that are many. At least three ideas can contribute to a framework where we can get corrected: if it is not for our glory, not by our authority, and not our story.

 

 

I love my church: I get to sacrifice

Is your life filled with sacrifice for the benefit of others? For sacrifice to really be good and inspirational, it needs two things: to be demanded by others and to do something. That's what we get from Jesus. That will give us real first love to drive our sacrifice.

I love my church: I get to fight evil

Does it help to be part of the church to fight evil? Check it out, tell us what you think. It gives the right understanding of evil, the right way to fight evil, and the right place to fight evil.

 

 

Jesus Christ is our Compassionate High Priest

Any true advocate for us before a higher authority or even God himself needs to be both like us and not like. That person needs to be like us to truly know what we go through. That person needs to be not like us so the requests are heard and properly conveyed. We have such a priest in Jesus.

Change and personal transformation

There are a lot of people in life I would like to change, but at some point I need to see that the person who really needs to change is me. As I change, the rest will too. Only the gospel changes me to produce healthy change in the people around me.

Change and the gospel dynamic

The gospel is a powerful dynamic in a group of people. That dynamic creates movement. Are you and the people around you going somewhere?
